Due to the different requirements of application and subsequent molding process, the preparation methods of metal powder are also different. According to the preparation process, it mainly includes physical chemistry method and mechanical method. In the Powder metallurgy industry, methods such as electrolysis, reduction and atomization are widely used. However, it should be noted that both methods have their limitations, not suitable for alloy powder preparation. At present, metal powder for additive manufacturing is mainly concentrated in titanium alloy, high temperature alloy, cobalt-chromium alloy, high strength steel and die steel. In order to meet the requirements of additive manufacturing equipment and process, the metal powder must have the characteristics of low content of oxygen and nitrogen, good spherical degree, narrow particle size distribution range and high loose density.
